One of the most interesting tech infos we have seen at CES is USB 3.0 Already rumored and discussed at various places, for the first time we’ve seen first USB 3.0 connectors. As was already known USB 3.0 runs at 4.8 Gbit/s (600 MB/s) speed and has advanced powering technology that saves energy when not in use. So far we are impressed but shame we have to wait until 2010.
iRiver announced new M20. GPS media player with 7 inch display, built in GPS navigation and DMB television. Not much more details are available so check out the latest picture.
While everybody was talking about Alienware’s curved display, NEC quietly showed up it’s own model CRVD-42DWX+ that sport more or less identical specifications: 2880×900 resolution, WXGA+ display with 10000:1 contrast. There is a assumption that ODM is the same too, Ostendo so we are having good competition on curved display market for us always hungry gamers. And same as Alienware model there is no pricing or shipping information.
Samsung came to CES to give a real blow to the Sony’s so cool OLED TVs. Their two models 31 inch and 14 inch OLED TVs easily best Sony’s 27-inch prototype and 11-inch production sets. Both of those Samsung’s models feature amazing contrast ratios and 1080p on a very thin panels. And we are suspicious to the company claims that it will not go in production with these models, especially when Sonny preps XEL-1.
