ASUS keeps the laptop market always interesting with new 15.4 inch M50 multimedia laptop. This cutie features Intel Penryn technology and users can choose Blu-ray drive as long as ATI Mobile Radeon HD3650 graphic with 1GB of VRAM. Also users can choose WXGA, WXGA+ or WSXGA+ panels, any Vista option, WiFi, up to 4GB of RAM, HDMI and a built-in hybrid TV tuner. There is dual-function trackpad that enables flipping through tracks or playlists and adjusting the volume of the Altec Lansing speakers. The ASUS M50’s cover is built using ASUS’ exclusive Infusion technology. This not only gives the cover a superb polished shine but also creates a tough coat, highly resistant to abrasions. Still the company didn’t said a thing about pricing and availability.
Western Digital has a new cooler, quieter, economical and speedy two-platter 640GB 3.5-inch hard drive, WD Caviar SE16 640GB SATA drive. The disk has two 320GB platters, boast 3GB-per-second transfer rates and Native Command Queuing (NCQ). The 640GB capacity point will be an important one for our desktop customers, and WD is leading high-volume shipments to the channel and OEM customers. The new 640GB drive is available now for a suggested price of $139.99 dollars.

NVIDIA officially announced new GeForce 9800 GX2 and you can get it today from a number of retailers for $600 bucks. In case you have forgotten here are some of the specs: dual G92-based 8800 GTS 512MB GPU, 256 Stream processors, 600 MHz Core Clock, 1500 MHz Shader clock, 1GB GDDR3 memory, and two DVI-DL and HDMI outputs.
Intel is announced that their research teams work on six core server CPU platforms based on 45 nm Penryn architecture. The new processors will have name Nehalem and will improve the performance and energy with new Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) technology so each core would process two threads at a time, not alternately like hyperthreading but truthfully at the same time. Also the microarchitecture bent on delivering an 8 MB level-3 cache, DDR3-800 memory support, 25.6GB per second Quickpath interconnects, an integrated memory controller and optional integrated graphics to high-end servers and eventually laptops. First models are expected at the end of this year.
In the world of DAP players we have seen a new star, X-ITE MP28 touchscreen player with support for almost all possible media formats. Also this player sports 2.8 inch touchscreen display, FM radio, voice recording option and miniSD slot. Available in 2GB and 4GB capacities. Still no words about prices and release date.
In case you forgot about Polaroid’s Freescape products here is new device the Freescape 4360 with Wi-Fi option. Along with wireless capabilities there is 60GB hard drive, support for MPEG4, WMA, WMV, MP3 and JPEG formats, 4.3-inch 480×272 resolution LCD, FM tuner, TV output and Li-ion battery that gives you 16 hours of audio playback. Unfortunately there is no information about release date and prices.
Toshiba unveils it’s new baby, Dynabook SS RX1 the world’s first laptop with 128GB SSD. This 12.1 inch lapie bundles 128GB solid state disk with internal KDDI EV-DO data module and 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo U7600 processor, 2GB of RAM memory, Intel 945GMS Express graphics, 1,280 x 800 panel resolution, and option to choose 6.2 hour or 12.5 hour batteries. It will be available in Japan next month for more that $4,000 bucks.
Check out the new BenQ V2400W world’s slimmest 24 inch LCD monitor. As company claims this model is 21% thinner than any other product on the market. Along with that goes 4,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 2-ms response, 1920 x 1200 resolution, 250 cd/m2 brightness, 16.7 million colors, 160-degree viewing angle and touch control panel. Also HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs are there. Still it will be available in Asia sometime this months while rest of the world will be able to see it in April. Price is unknown.
NorhTec has a new Eee PC competitor that will be available under $300 price tag. This mini laptop will feature 1GHz Via C7M ULV processor, PATA hard drive, integrated graphics, 7-inch display and Linpus Linux Lite operating system. Linpus Lite is similar as gOS we have seen inEverex gPC. Expect the official announcement really soon and we should hope that price will really be under $300.
