Tranquil PC has introduced new Harmony home servers based on Intel’s Atom chipsets. Two new models, T7-HSAi and T2-WHS-A3i features Ethernet port, four USB 2.0 ports, 512MB or 1GB RAM options, and running Windows Home Server. The T7-HSAi can store single 3.5-inch drive or two 2.5-inch drives while T2-WHS-A3i up to two 3.5-inch drives. Base configuration starts with 500GB storage capacity and cost $550 US for T7-HSAi and $590 US for T2-WHS-A3i.
Samsung has announced the company’s first 256GB SSD. This MLC-flash SATA II drive features 200MBps read and 160MBps sequential write speeds. So far we only know that it will be available in stores by the end of September with promise for a 1.8-inch version in Q4 of 2008.
