Guys at Tom’s Hardware has tested and overclocked 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 processor and managed it to work at 5.1GHz using cryogenic cooling system. They says it is a world record but we are not sure because there were P4 CPUs at 8.1GHz and Core 2 Extreme QX9775 on a Skulltrail board at 6GHz. So, close but not the cigar! The main feature of the upcoming standard will be video-modem that operates in the 5GHz unlicensed band to enable robust wireless delivery of uncompressed HD video (including 1080p). WHDI allows secure, encrypted HD video delivery through multiple rooms and other potential signal obstructions, such as people and furniture, while maintaining superb quality and robustness with less than one-millisecond latency. The objective of this special interest group is to enhance the current WHDI technology to enable wireless streaming of uncompressed HD video and audio between CE devices such as LCD and plasma HDTVs, multimedia projectors, A/V receivers, DVD and BD players, set-top boxes (STBs), game consoles, and PCs. The new interoperable standard aims to ensure that CE devices manufactured by different vendors will simply and directly connect to one another.
V12 Designs studio reported that they are teaming up with undisclosed US firm in order to bring new dual-screen laptops on the market within next two years. As it seems the laptop will have two LCD panels where one will be placed on the traditional keyboard and trackpad position. The keyboard display will have haptic feedback so users can feel when a keystroke is registered, and there will be voice recognition software too. Still very confusing concept but as V12’s officials says it can be managed and produced within next 16 months.

ASUS has decided to use Eee brand to the max and latest rumors says that company is prepping new Eee Monitor. It is still uncertain if this product will be just ordinary display or all-in-one PC solution. As pictures show, the Eee Monitor will probably feature 20 inch size, webcam, two front USB ports and four on the rear side as well as two Ethernet ports and audio jacks. Also there is Denon logo that indicate brand name amplifier and most probably a speakers. And same as for any other ASUS products it is way to early to mention the availability and prices.

This device is designed for professionals who are looking for interesting solution for digital voice recorder. ProTrack enables direct-to-iPod stereo digital recording with special pair of condenser microphones built-in along with twin XLR - 1/4-inch inputs for connecting external mics and line sources. There is also option for four AAA battery power supply. ProTrack only works on 2G and 3G iPod nano, 5G iPod and iPod classic. Rumors said that Intel is planning to develop dual-core Atom processors and now Fudzilla website has unveiled some new info. Apparently the first dual-core Atom processor will be named Atom 330 and will have 1.6GHz clock with 1MB cache memory and TDP just 8W. Still there is no info about prices and release date but we’re expecting them somewhere in the Q3 of 2008.
