Designer Chueh Lee from Samsung China has designed a first digital camera for the blind. It is named Touch Sight and displays a three-dimensional representation of the image on a built-in Braille screen and records three seconds of audio to assist users in locating and managing shots. Touch Sight is in concept status but it would be great if we see it in the market.
IEEE has approved the two new FireWire standards 1600 and 3200. The new IEEE 1394-2008 specification will introduce support for S1600 (1.6 GB/s) and S3200 (3.2 GB/s). The new specifications will be fully compatible with previous ports S400 and S800. The new faster FireWire ports will start in October and with this upgrade will be competitive with USB 3.0 which will work up to 4.8 GB/s.
Pioneer researchers have managed to develop a 400GB Blu-ray disc. The technology led to join 16 25GB layers and so far works only in laboratories. As latest reports says it is not certain if this prototype will ever go public and be able to run in Blu-ray drives. We will have to wait July 13th when Pioneer will officially discuss this breakthrough.

This clock displays the time to one millionth of a second and sine runing so fast it is possible to pause it and check the current time. It is still uncertain if this clock is awaliable for purchase.
The designer Kong Fanwen from Yanko design has created No-Key Keyboard concept. This interesting keyboard features glass surfaced material that will act like keyboard just as it is on iPhone or on upcoming Microsoft Surface. The keyboard uses the latest motion capture technology to track your fingers on the glass and creates the inputs. It would be interesting if this concept ever see the development stage.
NEC has designed beautiful and romantic heart-shaped LCD panel using new technology that enables more flexible design of TFT LCD panels. The prototype design, a heart-shaped low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) color TFT LCD module formed using two half-circular arcs and two straight lines, has a display width of 4 cm, height of 3.6 cm and pixel pitch of 174 micrometers. he new development is based on a more flexible TFT display that puts the display’s driver circuits along the perimeter of the LCD glass, allowing for more creative data and gate arrangements. The new LCD panel will be presented at the Society for Information Display (SID) Symposium on Friday May 23rd.
Last year PureDepth announced that it was joining forces with Samsung to develop Multi-Layer Display LCD’s and now we got some intformations that first MLD LCD’s will hit the stores relatively soon. Multi-Layer Display technology onsists of building displays that are layers of LCD panel that share a common back-light source, creating a depth effect when viewing material. Such technology can be used in mobile handsets, gaming solutions and automotive electronics. We’re looking forward to see this new technology in usage.
Just after Microsoft decided to continue Windows XP support up to 2010, Bill Gates last Friday indicated that the next major Windows version, Windows 7 will be in first testing phases within next year. So far, there are no certain information bout Vista successor, but as Microsoft already planned Windows 7 will be released three years after Vista launch, which is 2010.
AMD today announced that ATI FireGL V7700 received DisplayPort certification badge making it first DisplayPort-equipped card for the professionals. The ATI FireGL V7700 features PCI Express 2.0 interface, 10 bit display engine, 512MB of onboard memory, dual-link DVI connector and support for CAD / DCC projects. The ATI FireGL V7700 3D workstation graphics accelerator card is expected to begin shipping in April 2008 and will be available from system integrators and AMD channel partners worldwide, with expected price of $1,099 bucks.

Available in various colors this cutie has 1GB of storage space for your music, support for ATRAC3/ATRAC3plus/MP3/AAC formats, and two tiny speakers 20 mm in diameter and 180 degrees opposed to the left and right ends of device and it can dance in the rhythm of music you are playing.
