Seems that Lenovo is ready to launch new Tablet PC, the X200. This little fella packs 12 inch display with 1.86GHz SL9400 Core 2 Duo processor and battery that will provide you about 7 hours of work time. There is not much more info at this moment but so far we know it will be launched in Hong Kong soon, and price will be about $1,339 dollars.
Toshiba is working on interesting device, probably UMPC prototype that run Windows Visa and pack Intel’s Atom processor with a 64GB SSD and a GPS chip. As you can see from the photo there is no keyboard and all input comes from 5.6 inch touchscreen. There is not much more info about this device but we’re hoping Toshiba will release this cutie soon.
Japanese Kohjinsha released new SX series of convertible UMPCs loaded with excellent hardware. SX series models run Windows Visa OS on 1.33GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 60GB drive, built-in dual-layer DVD drive, WiFi, Ethernet, dual cameras, ExpressCard/34 slot, VGA out, 1seg tuner, card reader, and 2 USB ports. Battery is good for 4.2 hrs of work and device weights about 2.7 pounds. Expected to be available in Japan soon for $1,000 to $1,240 depending on options you choose.
Chinese Bestlink unveiled cheap ultra portable PC, Alpha 400. This Linux based UMPC features 400 MHz CPU, 7 inch display, 128 MB RAM and 1 or 2 GB flash memory and 32GB SD card, Ethernet port and optional WiFi dongle. And price? Just $250 bucks.
Rumors says that HP has contracted with Wistron to ships about two million UMPC 2133 units this year which is about 10% of HP’s worldwide laptop sales or even more if you compare it with sales of EeePC or Samsung’s Q1. With the $630 price this is quite solid UMPC that will fit all your needs into 8.9 inch low-cost sub-notebook.
Inventec reveals two new UMPC models 7-A and 5-D that recently won iF Product Design Awards in Hanover. UMPC 7-A features curved design that will provide better viewing angles and a more natural keyboard position. On the other hand UMPC 5-D is designed for modular concept and can be docked into all kind of multimedia devices. Unfortunately we don’t have more info about specs or day hitting the market.
Right from the CES we are presenting new LG’s UMPC prototype. This little guy is ultra portable with nice keyboard, 4.8 inch WVGA touchscreen, HSDPA, power savvy Menlow chipset and Windows Visa enabled. Let’s hope this is the first glimpse to 3rd UMPC generation as we expecting it to officially launch in the second half of this year.
